Targeted Tissue Treatment
Shockwave Therapy is not yet open at IZEL, so we are not taking bookings for it and no appointment can be made. Everything below explains what it is and how it is intended to be used, so you can decide whether it is worth your time when it opens. If it is, register your interest and we will get in touch then.

The handpiece produces rapid acoustic pulses that travel into the tissue beneath it. Those pulses are studied for their effect on local blood flow and on the tissue’s own repair response, which is why shockwave is explored for certain long-standing tendon and soft-tissue complaints. Whether it is appropriate for you depends entirely on what the assessment finds.
Who it's for
- Carrying a long-standing tendon or soft-tissue complaint that has been assessed
- Working through a rehabilitation plan where progress has stalled at one site
- Prepared to continue prescribed exercise alongside treatment rather than instead of it
What to expect
A rapid tapping against the treated area that can be uncomfortable while it happens; your physiotherapist works to your tolerance and stops when you ask. The area may feel tender afterwards. Treatment sits alongside your exercise programme, and progress is reviewed at assessment rather than assumed.
Not used over tumours, over an area of active infection, or during pregnancy, and not used if you are on anticoagulant therapy without clearance from your treating doctor.
Shockwave is delivered only within a physiotherapist-led plan following assessment, never as a standalone purchase. Suitability is decided at that assessment and we will tell you plainly if it is not right for you. Where your problem needs imaging or a specialist medical opinion we refer you on: IZEL is not a hospital and does not replace specialist medical care.
Shockwave Therapy is one part of a plan, never the whole of it. These are the concerns it is combined into at IZEL; which of them applies to you, and what sits alongside it, is decided at your assessment.
